Philippians 4:19 States “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”But sometime our needs go unmet, why? Is God a liar? Is He ignoring us? Actually there are several reasons that our needs may go unmet, three of those reasons are;
1. God may not be talking about your needs in Philippians 4:19.
God is talking specifically to His children in this verse and the bible is very clear that we are not all the children of God. Actually even though we are all created by God none of us are born into God’s family. We become the children of God by adoption into His family. So if you have never received the free adoption he offers He is under no obligation to meet your needs.
2. Your needs maybe unmet because of your prayerlessness.
James 4:2 says that “ye have not because ye ask not”. God is a loving Father who wants to hear from His children about their needs. Most of us worry about our needs instead of praying for them.
Philippians 4:6 & 7 says “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” First comes prayer then comes peace!
3. Your needs may be unmet because of your priorities.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
The reverse of this verse is true as well – if we DON’T seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness then these things WON’T be added unto us.
It’s about priorities, about putting God first. The problem is many put things before God. Is their anything that you love more than God? Jesus will not tolerate any rivals! Put God first and everything else second and see how God will provide.
